Application Guidance & Timetable

Introduction

We’re delighted that you are considering applying for one of our Outstanding Care Awards.

The Outstanding Care Awards will honour outstanding individuals, providers and suppliers from across the care industry, including care homes, community care, voluntary organisations, emergency services and more. We want your application to be a success so encourage you read the guidance we have provided below.

Who can apply?

Any provider that meets the criteria explained within our categories list. Nominations will be accepted by:-

• The business
• Employees
• Stakeholders
• Family members/advocates
• Patients/clients
• Professional bodies

Please note that nominators are able to opt out of us sharing their information with the nominee.

The application process

How do I apply?

Entry is simple and consistent for each category – completion of an online application form. There is ONE questions to answer with a 500 word limit for the nomination stage. Multiple nominations will be accepted and we will send you an eBadge to confirm that you have been nominated. You are free to nominate yourself or your own company. 

The awards team will then check all nominations to ensure they have met the criteria for the category. Once these checks have been completed semi-finalists will be announced. 

Once semi-finalists have been named, phase two of the awards will open on our website. Semi-finalists will need to complete the online application to submit their supporting evidence.
Every category has different questions so separate forms will need to be completed per category.
You will also be asked to submit a photo that will be used for marketing material and for the main gala event if you are successful. At phase two you will also be asked to upload a video and x2 written references to support your application. 

Please note these cannot be sent separately and must be sent within the time frames listed below. Videos or material sent in after the deadline date will not be accepted. 

References, photos and videos are not mandatory so please don’t worry if you are unable to send these in. 


The information you provide will be used to contact you if your application is successful and we take you forward as a finalist. Please ensure all fields are complete and accurate. All applications will be acknowledged upon receipt. Please note the special category can be entered only by a finalist.

Timeline

2nd Dec 2019 – Awards open to the public

3rd Feb 2020 – Nominations close

7th Feb 2020 – Semi-finalists announced, phase two opens

20th Feb 2020 – Meet the judges event, 6-9pm at the Carlton Hotel in Torquay

6th Mar 2020 – Phase two closes

9th Mar 2020 – 3rd April 2020 – Judging process

6th April 2020 – Finalist announcements via email & ticket booking opens

19th June 2020 – Gala Night

Judging

• Entries will be initially screened by the awards team to ensure basic requirements have been met.

• A specially selected judging panel of external experts will then review entries for each category using a bespoke assessment framework to ensure consistency and fairness. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their entry via email if they have made it through to the finials. Finalists will also be listed on our Facebook page. Those selected as semi-finalists will be invited to meet the relevant Judge for a further discussion, please see the dates listed on our timetable.

Main Gala

• Tickets and tables must be booked via our online booking page, ticket bookings will not be accepted without meal choices being selected. If you have special requests these can be made in the notes box only.
• Pre-ordered wine must be paid for on arrival
• Tickets cannot be sold for the announcements only.
• The event is black tie and dinner dress only.
• We ask attendees to respect all announcements and to remain quiet during these times.
• Start times and venue can be found on the event timetable.

Marketing & PR

Finalists and winners will be announced across all marketing channels including:

• Being listed in the awards brochure and awards ceremony literature/presentation slides, social media and awards website newsletter.
• The awards ceremony will be filmed and the video used across all our marketing channels
• Opportunities to feature in case studies and a post-event blog
